How can we solve health challenges for communities that are nearly invisible in our national health data? For too long, this has been the reality for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) populations, whose health data is often aggregated with other groups, masking specific needs and disparities.
A new project from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) aims to change that. The initiative is designed to significantly improve the collection and quality of health data specifically for NHPI communities. By disaggregating this data, public health officials and healthcare providers can gain a much clearer picture of the unique health challenges and strengths within these diverse populations.
